I've experienced intermittent garbling on incoming calls as well. I am running an SB5100-> RT31P2 on Jacksonville Comcast. Comcast recently upgraded my connection from the 3.0/256 connection to the 4.0/384 connection, but the thing is that this was happening well before Comcast upgraded the line.

There is no reason that people on the other end should be garbled due to some sort of internet issue when I can push my puny 256k voice to them just fine, and they're theoretically sending to me at 1/50th of what I can handle with no problem. I also have no persistant ping killers in my path.

I have upgraded to the 1.27.0 firmware and hope that this will help with the garbling issue. It hasn't happened that often, but I don't like things to be messed like that.

I just replaced my 1 month old Linksys Cable Modem BEFCMU10 ver 3 with a new Motorola SB 5100 to see if it would help my garbled audio problem. It did not. I think all of this new business may be overtaxing the Vonage infrastructure. I may try ATT Callvantage if this isn't fixed soon. It seems to be getting worse not better. The garbling happens every minute or so on our calls here in Dallas.

The same problem here in North Dallas.

Info: Comcast Cable
Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem
Linksys WRT54G Router
Motorola VT1000 Vonage box

Periodic incoming garbled voice.

Hopefully someone is watching the thread to gather information for troubleshooting.

In Dallas area (Comcast), have continued to experience echos on outbound calls and intermittent dropouts/garbled audio on inbound calls. Last Monday, at the request of the Vonage tech I sent 3 hours of Ping Plotter data for review. He was to look at the data and call me back later in the evening. The week has passed and no return calls. Tried a couple of emails but no response.......

The only thing I've found that helps is to lower my bandwidth saver to 30k. Don't know if it sounds like a tin can on a string at the other end, but at least I can hear......

I have had this happen too, but only when I call my friend who is also a Vonage customer. It appears to happen on Vonage to Vonage calls. Are you guys getting this on calls to and fro the POTS system as well?

I have the Motorola terminal, and my friend has the LinkSys terminal. He lives 2 km away from me and we are both on the exact same ISP, which gives us very good bandwidth consistently. I have never had any garbling when talking to people using a POTS phone line. My calls are always within Canada, where I live.

That is good that it is no longer happening. I know that some firmware upgrades took place over the past week for the LinkSys ATA. Maybe that is the reason why it is now working. Lol

I'm in Plano, and haven't had this problem the last couple of days. No more echoes on outbound calls and no more chopiness on inbound calls. My wife called her sister last night and talked with her for an hour with no problems.....just like a real phone Very Happy
