Nortel sues Vonage over patents:

Who's next? Vonage.
Vonage should sue itself. Expense penalties in this FY and declare the revenues in the next one... so then claiming huge revenue increases. Investors would love it.

Post subject: Misleading
Instead of being a doomsayer, why not report what the article says?
If you read the article, (and I am sure you did as you posted it) or look up others online, you would realize that this patent lawsuit is NOT the same as the ATT, Sprint, and Verizon lawsuits. In this one, Vonage purchased 3 patents from Digital Packet Licensing (DPL). These are some of the one's that Vonage is trying to use to circumvent the other lawsuits. DPL had already filed a lawsuit against Nortel back in 2004? over these patents. Vonage felt that they had needed to continue the lawsuit.
Nortel is countersuing over 9 patents. This is a typical defensive strategy. There is a better chance of them coming to some sort of settlement or business agreement than Vonage had with the big 3 mentioned above. This may end up being good for Vonage.
Do a google search, there are plenty of articles on this lawsuit and the others.

Your Welcome
Not trying to come across as a fanboy, but it seems that a lot of your posts come across as negative. I just wanted the people around here that don't RTFA to know that this is not exactly the same.
Anyway, I know I mainly lurk around here instead of post, so my opinion probably isn't worth much, but then again, quality over quanity. Besides, this forum is pretty dead anyway, so who knows who reads it any more.

Sorry you had to read my own personal lamentations. I thought you googled instead.
In reality I am an otherwise funny and relatively casual kinda person, positive about all that Life has to offer - except when Vonage is talked about - and for good reason mind you.
Frankly there is nothing optimistic to tell about the way this product performed for me and my family and likewise how this stock has performed since the IPO.
If there was anything else to say, this forum would be buzzing with activity.

Post subject: ranting
Point taken, I don't mind a rant or lamentation from time to time. It just seems that people on most of the forums I frequent don't take the time to read the links (when they work) or look for more corroborating articles. They just take the posts at face value.
I'm glad you look at life positively, and I didn't mean to imply that you didn't.
Unfortunately, Vonage stock has tanked. Fortunately, I only invested a measly $200 that is worth about $40 now. Other than the stock issue, I have had almost no issues with my vonage line in the almost 4 years that I have been a customer. I have to admit that the one or two times I did, I was on hold for a long time, but my call was handled OK, even if I did have trouble with the accent. But any more, I get the same thing when I call Verizon, Cox, HP, Intuit, or most other technology companies. Though I have to admit, I usually get a faster response when I call the Business departments of some of the above companies. Something about paying a boatload of money for faster response time.
Anyway, none of this was meant as a personal attack, so I hope you didn't take it that way. Probably more due to holiday stress.

At the time "Vonage sues Vonage" sounded pretty funny.
Collectively, people lost far more money on Nortel than they could ever lose on Vonage. But really what people lose, others gain. In the end its a wash minus the commissions.
You've got to laugh about certain things in life. Like your own mistakes.
