Phantom calls made by Vonage

incoming calls and when answered no one is on it, then upon hanging up phantom calls come in from cell phones of #'s that I tried to test dial my home later again and again. able to make outgoing calls but not recieve any since 6pm EST Boston Area

I am also receiving phantom calls from numbers that have recently called my Vonage number.

Sometimes the phantom calls ring my cell, which was configured for SimulRing and Network Outages. I've since disabled both those features via the dashboard, but my cell keeps ringing. Occasionally the Vonage line rings as well, but that's less often.

I've had to unplug the Vonage phone and turn off the cell. Hopefully there are no emergencies tonight...

What a nightmare. It was strange when it was occuring at 10pm and my mother kept calling and hanging up on my home Vonage line and then would do the same to my cell phone 4 times in a row. Then it got stranger when she was somehow calling both my home and cell at the same time from her cell phone! Now it's almost 2:30am and it's not funny or strange. It's annoying. I thought maybe it was the Linksys box so I unplugged it. Didn't change anything. Before I realized it was a Vonage problem I called my mother at 2:00am and convinced her that she had a cell phone virus and she needs to take the battery out even though her phone was turned off. Her battery is out and the problem persists. What's the deal? Is this a glimpse of some Brazil/ 1984 like future?

phantom calls in area code 201 too.

been on hold with Vonage for more than 30 minutes.

this may be the last straw.

it's ringing my cell phone and i cannot log on to change the simulring options.

Some people are receiving a All circuits are busy message when trying to call my Vonage phone. The service has been intermittent over the last 12 hours or so. I called Vonage and they say they are having a problem and are working on it, but they didn't know what was wrong yet. I was not receiving phantom calls, but I could dial out most of the time even when nobody could call into my Vonage line. If Vonage doesn't improve their quality and reliability, I will be switching back to a regular phone line because of the WAF (wife acceptance factor).

I'm in the Woodinville, Wa area and have been having the phantoms off and on since 4:30pm it is now 12:27

Phantoms went until 1:30am last night...

Now when you call the phone - it rings as if it's going through but when you pickup it's dead and the line calling you CONTINUES to ring 2-3 more times and then either picks up or hangs up on you...

The consumerist (dot) com just posted up a way to contact the Vonage Board as well as a phone number to call them as well. I'll let you all figure out how to leave a voicemail for corporate - but from my perspective I'm finally going elsewhere.

UPDATE _ 9:44am EST- it's working again.

this was becoming a nightmare for me.
Thank God I found this forum.

This is my experience:
Last night my Vonage line was out. Actually I could make call but coudn't receive.
After a little while everything looks like was back to normal....but I was wrong!!
I go out for dinner and suddenly my cell rings. It was a call from my cell phone itself!!!
I received 4-5 of those calls in a row.
Itt gets better...I started to receive calls from my office number and from my wife that is sitting next to me (her cell phone was off!!!).
At the beginning I didn't think about Vonage. I thought was some kind of id spoofing or somebody hacked my phone number.
So I went back home and went to bed (our cell phones were off).
I woke up 2.56AM with a nice phone call from myself. And after a few seconds 4-5 calls from my wife!
A that point I unplugged the Vonage phone.
Tried to turn my cell phone on...about 15 voice mails from my wife and from myself.
After a little googling I ended up here...
At least I know it's not a ghost!! Smile

)
Anyway, now I deactivated all the features like call forwarding and network availability.
I hope it works.
Anyway, thank you everybody for sharing your experience.

My sister had no idea of the Vonage crisis. She had previously enabled call forwarding to her cell. By freak chance, I was able to reach her on her Vonage line after many failed attempts, than her voice became distorted and was cutting in an out, than!!Her cell phone message started recording our phone call, than, I could here her Vonage message stating she had ten saved messages! What a freaky experience. I told her to call me on my cell. I informed her of the issues with Vonage, and told her about this forum so she could read the issues we are all having. Its to bad my local phone company will not reopen until monday. Im willing to pay a few dollars extra a month to have reliable service.
