Down here in Huntsville Alabama. Vonage is out. Been out at least for 5 hours now. I get the "this telephone line can not register to vonage network" message.

Well, lets think about this technically. I am a Sys Admin at a pretty large company. Our big thing is orders. The worst thing that could possibly happen is we loose an order. Well, for Vonage it is their voice service overall. So, if something comparable were to happen in our company, everyone would be called in, work for a few hours, then split off to have half work through the night, then the other half relieve them in the morning.

So, everyone is there, obviously it is something that is effecting the phones, so trace back, phones-->{various routers}-->dmark-->router-->firewall-->router(s)-->switch-->server...or something similar to that. It isn't a global server effect, their website would be down. So, isolated to the voice servers, which are just fancy routers and converters anyhow. Outgoing is working, so remove that. Forwarding is working, just not as designed, that is a clue, scripting, or some type of programming error. Caller ID is working, dial tone is intermittant. Voice encoding works, so does the timing, you can make outgoing calls. Outside calls hit a cannot complete. Could be so many things...Turn on those DR machines...(it may be that time) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Has a vonage customer tried a vonage customer (wouldn't that be a trip)? Does softphone work? Is the 800# network effected?

You can't currently log into their website, so the phone interface is down also.

They are saying that it will be "at least 1 more hour" and "possibly up to 24 more hours" until service is restored.

I have been a loyal customer for years, but after this I'm absolutely switching. What service doesn't have backup systems in place??? Ah yes, one that creates workarounds to avoid paying additional patent royalties to the competition.
