My Results Download 2,674,504 bps Upload 1,591,816 bps QOS 54% RTT 52 ms MaxPause 108 ms
I have Comcast with a motorola cable modem, then the SMC router, then the LinksysRTP300 then a Vtech 5.8 phone. (hooked up just the way it says to on the Vonage website)
Why does my phone service disconnect frequently? This week it's been at least 3 times. And, when I reboot from the beginning like it says to on the Vonage website then sometimes it connects to Vonage and sometimes it doesn't. Tonight I've done this 3 times and I still have no phone service. |

I had the issues and equipment you are having. I would wake up to no phones every other day or so. I finally found out that the RTP300 that Vonage supplies you is a refurbished one and a piece of junk. Of course they wont admit it, they always try to blame it on download speeds, the Motorola modem, or even your home phones, but its never their equipment. I finally went out and bout two new WRTG54 Linksys wireless routers with the phone ports, I have never had a problem with them. Its been about 3 months, and still no drops and now I can even fax with no problems. Hope this helps. |

Hi, SJ. Sorry for the delay- yesterday was yardwork day.
The information is better; unfortunately, it just confirms that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your internet service. The numbers are fine. David may be right about the RTP300 being defective. Before concluding that, could you try removing the SMC router for awhile? See if the service works properly with it out of the picture. |

I guess I will try that and see what happens, although I'm not sure that Vonage is back online yet. Any good ideas on how to know the outage is fixed and the problem is my router? I'm glad that nothings wrong with the internet service. |

'Fraid not. Some of us didn't have an outage. Just watch the threads here until it dies out. |

Try putting the RTP300 right after the modem. I've had one here for two years without a problem. We have not had an outage of any kind in months. I highly recommend people always place their Vonage device right after their modem. Make sure you power everything down before making the change.
I have an SB-5120 and RTP300 with Comcast.

Nope, been there, done that. I had a lot MORE issues with no phone service when the Vonage device was between the modem and the wireless router.
Thanks for the suggestion though!
