ANY HINTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Ok, heres the deal. I am adding a wrtp54g behind a RVS4000. I am trying to get the darn thing to play nice, but have failed. Using the wrtp54g as a switch, I can get everything on my network to play ball EXCEPT the Vonage phone service. If I setup the wrtp54g as a "router" using the WAN port, I can get my Vonage service to work, BUT I lose Media Server for my PS3 AND my Media Center Extender will not find my MCE2005 computer (because they will now be on separate networks). Hopefully I am not being to vague, but I want to get some ideas for different possible setups. I want to keep the RVS4000 as my main router behind the cable modem with my MCE2005 plugged directly into it. The only other thing I can think of is utilizing the WAN on the wrtp54g and just wireing the PS3 and the MCExtender directly to the RVS4000 so as to eliminate the problem, but that doesn't sound like fun! I would love to keep it all on one network, but as long as it all works...
Thx |

Using the WRTP54G as a switch is OK, but you have to run a line from one of the LAN ports to the WAN port to get the phone service to work. See Nate Hoy's option 3, here: http://vonage.nmhoy.net/tworouters.html |

Golly, it looks funny and I just can't figure it out. BUT IT WORKS. So far, everything is talking to one another and I have Vonage service. I really appreciate your help.

<G> I've always thought that was a weird setup myself, but, as you've seen, it seems to work. Some people call it "bridge mode" if you're interested in searching through the forum for more discussion. |
