Internet: Comcast Cable (10Meg Down) Router: Linksys WRTP54G (2 port wireless Voip Router) Firmware version: 1.00.62 Phone: 5.8GHz Uniden Cordless Phone ---
Recently, half the time an incoming call is received, I answer the phone and it goes dead. At the same time, the internet and local network connections die for a second. After about 15 seconds all is back to normal. I can make outgoing calls (usually calling the person back who couldn't get through) with no problem. This only happens about half the time, so its hard for me to pinpoint any one reason why this might happen.
I have no other issues with my Comcast cable, the connection is stable with no packetloss, the TV signal works fine, and I checked the modem logs and I don't see any reboots or anything that would indicate the modem is faulty.
I'm not sure if its something to do with Vonage or with the Router or what, but its starting to get frustrating.
Any ideas? |

If you're connected to house wiring, please disconnect from it and plug your phone directly into the Vonage box while you're troubleshooting. If you have another phone, preferably a corded one, try that for awhile as well. The 5.8 GHz cordless shouldn't interfere with the wireless router, but it might have some other problem.
Please post the details of your Voip test. If you can, run several at various intervals, and see if there is any significant change, particularly right after you've had a problem. |

The phone base station is plugged directly into the router port already, and has been this way the whole time. The other port is plugged in to my fax machine (I have 2 numbers, one for fax and one for phone). The fax appears to work properly as well.
What is Voip Test? How do I run one of these? |

Oops. I thought you had already run a test once. You'll find it on the forum drop down menu (forum speed dial), top left. Voip speed test. |
