I'm considering getting the Linksys PAP2 since I already have a router. Is it as good as any phone adapter with Vonage?
Thank you. |

Maurice2,
I can't speak to the quality of the other Vonage adapters but I picked up my PAP2 from Best Buy. Aside from a phone ringing issue which was quickly resolved, the quality of the adapter is great. It is extremely quiet (my experience), so quiet that I have to occasionally ask the person on the other end if they are still there. I hope this helps you decision. |

I've been using my Pap2 since the 6th while i try to decide which service to use Vonage or Lingo. The Pap2 has been excellent. I don't hear any noise like some people have described, and the box has remained connedted continuously the entire time. |

I have the Linksys PAP2 as my TA and use it for international calls without any problems. The only static I get is from the cordless phone. I used a wired phone when I first signed on to Vonage and clarity was great. |

I started out with the LinkSys PAP2 and I think I lucked out with the best choice first instead of last. I haul it around with me whenever I go on a client site, so it has withstood being unplugged and plugged in twice a day. It is small, so it's easy to chuck in a bag along with my cordless phone. Clarity is great, with my only complaint being that I get a hum in it periodically. Overall, I like it. |

Do you also need to take a network cable with you? And where do you plug it in? I am asking because I now have the PAP2 and Vonage, and I am about to leave on a trip. If the hotel where I'll be staying has a broadband connection available to me, what will I need to do if I want to make free calls?
Many thanks. |

you mentioned you had problems with phones ringing. How did you resolve this? I would search the forum but for some reason the search ****! |

iamed,
Tech support started by incrementally increasing the ring voltage that the PAP2 delivers to the phone port. When setting it to it's highest it was still missing a ring or two (I have it set to ring for 25 secs. which almost everytime equates to 5 rings) but it was far better than before and predictable. The final thing they did was adjust the waveform of the ring signal. It has been perfect ever since. Now the only issue I have is due to the DTMF my wife's voice will set off touch tones during her conversation. It only happens when she is on the phone. Vonage blames it on the inherent nature of VOIP and says they are "working with our vendors to rectify the situation." The tech support gentlemen on this one said he lowered the output volume levels on the device but said he couldn't guarantee this would fix anything. Hope I have been helpful. |
