I'm considering adding a toll free number for incoming calls.

Can I get a distinctive ring or similar feature (Caller ID is fine) so that I know if the call is on my toll free # or regular?

Goal will be to let toll free calls go to answering machine & call them back to reduce minutes used. I expect to get about 40-50 toll free calls a month, and would rather call them back than use the 100 incoming minutes.

I have an unlimited plan now.

Distinctive ring is not a feature that Vonage supports. However, you can certainly plug a phone with a distinctive sound into the toll free line.

Caller ID is not supported on Vonage's inbound toll-free numbers -- this is Vonage's official statement. Mine does work about 25% of the time. See other posts here on the forum about caller-ID.

Toll free charges at a nickle a minute are to cheap to bother fussing around and inconveniencing callers. 100 minutes is a lot of time if you don't put them on hold and play elevator music when they call. I have had a toll-free number for several years with Vonage. It gets quite a bit of calls but at $3 bucks an hour after my first 100 minutes I can't worry about it. If you get a second line you can pipe your toll free number into it but that would be costly. $15 bucks a month plus taxes is over 300 minutes. I think I average about 130 minutes a month.
