Post subject: Vonage don't allow to use xp network
Hi, a have a
Vonage
routers to make calls (
VoIP
i think) i connect the internet cable from the router to the
vonage
and from te
vonage
to the pc
Normaly i've set up the configuration fot the tcp/ip like this:
Without
vonage
conected Directly Router ---> PC
ip: 192.168.1.2
sn: 255.255.255.0
gw: 192.168.1.1 (Router)
DNS:
200.48.225.130
200.48.225.146
That configuration is for Telefonica del Perú (Speedy)
But when i connect the
vonage
and i bypass the internet conection to vange
Router --->
Vonage
---> PC
I must SET the configuration of TCP/IP in automatic mode otherwise i can't navigate on internet.
The model of the
vonage
is:
Motorola VT2142 / Motorola VT2442
Thanks in advance!

The Motorola VT2442 is a combination router and phone adapter. When you connect your PC to the VT2442, you are on subnet different from your router. The VT2442 is now the DHCP server for your PC.
If you have free ports on the router, connect your PC to the router too. If there are no more free ports on the router, add a hub or switch after the router.

You can set your PC to static IP, but it must be in the same subnet as the router.
By default, the Motorola VT2442 IP address is 192.168.15.1.
You can set your computer statically to:
IP: 192.168.15.100
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.15.1
DNS: 192.168.15.1

You do not need to specify the secondary DNS. The router gets the list of DNS servers from your ISP. The router's DNS server is a middle-man for your PC's DNS requests.

In order to ping 192.168.15.102, your other computer must be assigned IP 192.168.15.102 and connected to Motorola VT2442 also, and not to the other router.
