Am just starting using Vonage as of this morning.

First problme i am having is after using the phone i lose my internet connection. I need to reboot my computer each time which will be annoying to have to do regularly.

I am on a mac, using a linksys router and a timewarner broadband connection.

Any input would be appreciated - thanks

steve - thanks for your response

here is the info i should have included:
time warner modem cable (scientific atlantic 2203c)
to linksys wireless router (wrt54g)
to Vonage modem (motorla vt2142)

since posting things got worse and i couldn't connect wirelessly at all.

so i just spent a bunch of time with linksys tech support and they helped me with a better linksys router set-up. now i am back wireless - and about to try reconnecting the phone. fingers crossed!

the linksys person did say they had a different router that handles Voip - wondering if that would make life simpler?

also noticing that the time warner modem has a port for phone connection. imagine that is meant for time warner cable phone service though which probably works differently than Voip.

life sure has gotten complicated.

here is more info that is asked for:

location: maine us
working on mac OS 10.4

network is cable modem to wireless router to Vonage modem.

Download 4,883,624 bps
Upload 365,976 bps
QOS 99%
RTT 36 ms
MaxPause 4 ms

now i cant find the sticky with the other requested info - but thinking that might be enough at this point!?

thanks again - might go ahead and shut down computer now and then try to reconnect the Vonage modem. fingers still crossed!?

Yes, that's enough for now, since you may have already fixed the problem. (By the way, what did the Linksys tech have you do?). The sticky is right at the top of this forum. Look at the list of messages, and you'll see two stickies right at the top. One lists the information that you should post if you have a technical problem.

The equipment lineup you have, WRT54G and VT2142, is better than going with the Linksys combination unit (WRTP54G). Let's see how you do with the new setup. You may also want to look at member Nate Hoy's technical writeups here: http://vonage.nmhoy.net/ .

I am running the Linksys WRT54GP2 and not having any problems with it. I find it works much better than running a Vonage adapter along with a wireless router. If I am downloading I have it set up so Vonage calls takes priority over the bandwidth.
