My previous Voip provider offered selective call blocking. I was very surprised and disappointed to learn that Vonage does not provide this feature. I guess I should have done more research before signing up.

Yes, Vonage management, you need to add call block to your feature set. I have been a customer for four years now and this is a must. Please have your coders get to work and add this. You'd make your customers very happy and we'll recommend you guys all the more!

When will Vonage be adding call screening or call blocking? Their competitor Comcast and Clearwire has this feature with Voip services. This feature will allow the customer to add phone numbers to block when they get those calls from companies claiming to have a prior working relationship so they are entitled to call or those who call to do a survey they claim will only take a few minutes. I know there is a demand for this type of feature.

Call screening and blocking are essential phone system feature because it allows an inbound call to be blocked or evaluated before actually answering it.

I really like Vonage and have been a customer for 3 years now but if selective call blocking is not added in the very near future I will be making a change.

A lot of companies don't offer it at all or if they do it is a premium service. Why? Well think about it. Perhaps they are in an alliance with the bill collectors and telemarketers. If everyone could block their calls at the press of a button they both would be out of business. Remember also that phone companies often use bill collectors/collection agencies too in order to collect past due debts.

My advice? Get a phone that has selective call blocking built in or at least one which allows you to specify "silent" or "no ringer" for a number.

By this time Vonage may have this feature. What I know is that most Voip phone services now are becoming more like IP PBX when it comes to features.
