I have this setup
Comcast Cable Modem > Apple Airport Extreme > 2 Linksys WR31P2 (2 separate Vonage lines)
The system works just fine, on a regular basis, internet is fast, etc. etc.
On the home Vonage line, calls come in and out with no issues.
On the business Vonage line, calls go out fine. Sometimes (1 of 4 calls) calls come in and at the same time the phone rings, the wireless connection from the Airport Extreme drops for a few seconds, then returns. At the same time, the call on the phone line that came in has an in and out quality, where its like 1 second of conversation, 1 second of silence, over and over for the length of the call.
I am thinking of replacing the business Vonage router. Is this the best thing to do? If I replace it, how does Vonage know that this is now the router to use with my business line? Do I have to call them?
Thanks |

Are using a cordless phone for the line that's giving a problem? 2.4 GHz cordless phones can cause problems with wireless routers.
You can register new adapters and switch lines to them using your account page. You don't need to call Vonage. |

Yes we do use a cordless phone by Panasonic that is 2.4ghz. We also use the same type on our home phone Vonage line with no issues. I guess they are all different though. Could proximity make a difference? The business line is within 3 ft. of the router and the home phones are all over the other rooms of the house. |

When it comes to interference between wireless devices using the same frequency band, all kinds of variables make a difference, usually unpredictably. Bottom line, if you want to continue to use a wireless router, then change the phone to a wired or a cordless using some other frequency band. |

Hello Guys,
I also used panasonic 2.4ghz phones and it wreaks havoc on my router even if i set the router to a different channel. Usually, after changing the channel on the router, it works fine for a day or two then disconnects again when the phone rings.
It seems that some panasonic phones auto select a new channel between the phone and its base (channel hopping). I finally just sold them and switched over to 5.8ghz units and wireless has not conked out since. |
