When I sign up with Vonage, I will ask to keep my current phone number (I checked and it's ok). But I need to know what will happen during the interim period (while it is being transferred to Vonage, which may take a few weeks).
My plan is to hold on to my POTS account and to have all calls forwarded to my Vonage temporary number during the interim period. Once the transfer has been accomplished and my original number is now my Vonage number, I will terminate my POTS account. This way I will not miss a single call if anyone calls me at my original POTS number.
Will this work? Or is there a different procedure to follow?
Many thanks. |

submit lnp. forward calls to Vonage. once it's transferred, your pots will be canceled as you know longer have a number (service) through them. you should get a reimbursement check if they owe you anything. I wouldn't do anything with the pots line/company unless you want to screw things up. you should probably read at vonage.com so you know what to do and expect. start here:

reebok thanks for your reply. But I don't understand the above sentence. Could you please be a bit more specific? Thank you. |

you said it yourself, I was just paraphrasing it. you submit a form (LOA) stating you want to transfer your number along with a current bill from your current provider. then you can forward your current phone number to your Vonage temporary number. regardless of if you understand how I stated things, it comes down to reading the link in my first post. Just follow it and you should be ok. |
