PostPosted: Thu Nov 22, 2007 1:07 am    Post subject: Vonage not connecting - 4 blinks pause repeat Dlink VTA Reply with quote Back to top

I received my Vonage bundle of joy last night, and so far it does not work.

I basically get to the 4 blinking lights stage i.e. 4 blinks pause repeat.

My kit

Virgin Broadband ISP Router --> Linksys WRT54GS --> Dlink VTA

I have also tried another router with no success.

I have
reflashed the router with latest Firmware Version: v1.52.2
given the vta a both dhcp and static ip addresses
setup port forwarding for the ports mentioned elsewhere and even put the VTA in the DMZ
connected the VTA directly to the virgin cable modem
tried two phones plugged into both ports 1 or 2

You could try connecting it in this order.

Virgin Media Cable Modem (I am presuming) to Vonage Adaptor to Linksys WRT54GS.

This should allow the Vonage Servers to connect to your Vonage device without any problem, I have a sneeky feeling that the Linksys WRT54GS may be blocking it as its also has a routing device like the Vonage router and could be causing a conflict.
Good Luck.

Well it turns out that they had some sort of an issue as I spoke to them over a couple of days and they kept telling me there was a known issue and they were investigating - I was slightly miffed to be honest after all the trouble I had gone through - all they had to do was put something on their site to let people know...

So its working exactly as configured previously - I left them to it for a couple of days and bam - it started working of its own accord.

I must say this however, they were very quick to answer the phone and put me through to someone that knew about my problem - and they were very polite - so not a total let down.
