I have AT&T DSL. My understanding was that when hooking up Vonage all of my phone jacks in the house (I have 4 total) would work with the Vonage - however the only phone that works is the one that is hooked directly into the Vonage device. The website indicates disconnecting lines at the DMARC from the local phone company - but won't that affect my DSL? Thanks!!

You're correct. You can't eliminate the ATT line because it's carrying your DSL. You have options. One would be to re-wire at the DMARC so that the ATT line is on some pair other than line 1, and then connect that line to the DSL modem. Then connect the telephone output from the Vonage box to line 1 in the house wiring to distribute the Vonage service throughout the house.

Another option would be to leave the DSL line alone, and connect the Vonage output to line 2 in the house wiring. That way the DSL would be on line 1 at each jack in the house, and Vonage would be on line 2 at each jack.

In any case, you need to know what you're doing. You might want to visit the hard wiring forum and look at the sticky messages there. You absolutely do not want to just run a phone cord from the phone port on the Vonage box to a wall jack at this point.

Your best bet is to get a expandable cordless phone and plug the base into the Vonage ATA. Then put the expandable units anywhere in your house you want. A good one can expand up to 10 or 15 handsets, if you have more rooms that need a phone than that you can afford POTS.

That's certainly one option, but use of the house wiring should be in the cards as well. It offers lots of options, including use of any existing phones.
