I would appreciate some advise if some has it.
I am switching from COMCAST to ATT UVERSE but I am having trouble getting the Vonage router working with ATT 2Wire gateway. The Vonage router is a DLINK VWR-VR. I have tried it connected from the 2Wire to the WAN port on the router. It let it Dynamical pick up and IP address. It did but is still does not work.
So in a effort to fix it I tried the PPPoE setting. That did not work. I even tried setting a static IP address but nothing works. I would appreciate some help.
Thanks |

I just switched from Optimum over to AT&T Uverse. I am currently using an older PAP2 Vers 1 adapter on a 2wire gateway. At first it did not aquire so I used my phone and changed it back to dhcp and then did a reboot and quickly it aquired and it has worked well every since (4 days). I did find out AT&T does NOT support Vonage devices on their gateway units. I am not at home but I think we used the one port that is by itself and not part of the router (is it broadband port?). I'll be back there late tonight and verify it and repost.
AT&T did tell me that they do not block any ports.
Good luck.

I got my Motorola router to work with Uverse by doing to following:
1. On the Vonage Router
- Loop the WAN port to one of the LAN ports. This is a little strange and can probably be accomplished with a switch, but it works well
- Configure the WAN port for DHCP
- Note the WAN port MAC address, you will need it later
- Configure the LAN port with a static address from the Uverse router network (make sure it does not fall within the Uverse router DHCP range)
2. On the Uverse Router
- Find the Vonage router WAN interface (look for the MAC address) and view its network settings
- Configure the firewall for it to DMZplus
3. Reboot the Vonage router and enjoy |

This technique does work, and is, from time to time, recommended for various reasons. However, the original setup should also have worked. I'd start by doing a master reset on the VWR and re-trying the original setup. The factory defaults really ought to work in that configuration. |

Sorry I'm not answering this guys question directly but I just wanted to post some helpful "new" 2008 info for anyone interested in getting Vonage with ATT Uverse. Pardon.
After searching the internet, calling several ATT & Vonage reps, I could not find a 100% straight answer if Vonage "works" in conjunction with ATT Uverse.
Well, I have ATT Uverse with the lowest (cheapest) internet connection you can get and the U-100 for TV (non-HD). I signed up for Vonage a week ago and my Vonage router came early via UPS and my line was also transferred over from my ATT land-line just like Vonage said.
I'm not in "any" way pushing Vonage, I just like good business, btw.
Anywho, for those who are interested and have ATT U-verse, here's what to do after you have received your Vonage stuff.
Follow the Vonage directions for the DSL, powering down the ATT Uverse, connecting the ethernet cord, etc.
*Note: (don't do what I did) after you plug in the Vonage adapter, you may get an Error code: 006. Don't unplug it. Wait for it to correct itself. It may take a few minutes or so but it should say something like, "Downloading updates". It will then re-start and you should be connected.
My only gripe is the set-up for this. My ATT Uverse router and Vonage thingy must be connected via ethernet cable. So everything is all bunched together. But I'll figure something out.
Hope the Vonage service is as good as I hear. And I would also like to add that ATT Uverse is really nifty too. Wink |
