Will the RT31P2 update its firmware behind a router if the router only does NAT? I guess I have to put my RT31P2 behind my router because I'm going to always have a second Voip adapter (SPA-3000 with FWD). I'm fine without QOS. I got 1.24.xx and waiting for the new one. Is there anyway to set this up so the firmware behind NAT would update OR second Voip adapter would work with RT31P2 in front? General explanation fine! Thanks |

I don't have a direct answer to your question. I was wondering the same thing. However, I just wanted to point out that I was not given the firmware update automatically. I requested it. However, I had gotten frustrated with my router and went out of town. When I returned, I received an e-mail stating that I was sent the firmware update (in response to mine requesting it). I plugged the cable modem in directly to the router and first, it showed the old firmware. However, after a reboot, sure enough, it had updated the firmware. Whether it would've worked behind a router or not, I'm not sure. However, I think that maybe they are able to access it with its connection to Vonage (for the purpose of phone service).

I was able to use the above advice to get my Vonage router and my wireless router talking. I set the pwd's on both, got the encryption and wireless security configured, saved, and tested, and then put them together with the cable line going to the wan of the the RT31P2 and then connected the other modem to the wan from one of the four ports. I then was able to use the avl physical ports on both routers, I have eight now instead of four. Also I am able to get the configuration of both of them from IE, 192.168.0.1 for the D-link, and 192.168.15.1 . I set the Vonage one to not use DHCP so there are no collisions and so far so good, I can use the secure wireless network for laptop, and my lan connections are speedy. I also did a firmware update on the d-link but could not find one on the Vonage one, I will enable auto update though. I did not think it was nice of that guy not to reply that he was all set, your info helped me and thanks for your time. It is getting tired out, good night |
