I don't know how dated the FAQ is but by the info that was given to me what they told you is wrong. I had a second adapter that I had at my office for my personal calls and use. When that part of my business was closed I too wanted to transfer the number to my home adapter and only have one account instead of two.
I got through to India on my call and was put on hold. I got a real live American and was told straight away that it was a feature that was coming but not any time really soon. I said thank you very much and stuck with two.
On further reflection in my case I am sure that I would have had to pay the termination fee to drop one account as it had been less than 2 years so I am probably better off as I am.

I'm sorry that I have not updated this post, I've just been sidetracked with the holiday, shopping, weather, etc.
However, I did want to let everyone know that (after a couple of more calls) the changes described earlier were made. The accounts were merged and the number that was assigned to one adapter was transferred to the other.
There wasn't any cancellation or termination fee because the account wasn't cancelled... just merged. Plus I got the bargain $4.99 rate on the second line plus two months free.
I guess it's a matter of getting through to the right person at
