Hello again - been out of town, so no action on my part. No - I do not have a Docsys 1.0 modem. It is Dlink DCM 202 which is Docsys 2.0(?), i believe. I upgraded to it, a year or so ago, because of Vonage from a Motorola SB4200, which I believe was Docsys 1.0. At any rate, I am back in town and now running on my friend's Motorola SB5120, so Comcast thinks I'm him (hummmm - wonder if I can do anything expensive while I'm here). Speedtest immediately jumped to 13.9 mb (from 7.6 mb) on download and 1560kb (from 360 kb) on upload, but then when I got on the phone (only one line active), upload slowed to 173kb. - Any thoughts? Clarity was good, but then it's been good ever since I followed Criscar99's advice and downloaded microcode for the d-Link modem especially for Comcast. And I'll probably go find an improved modem. Any suggestions, especially from you VoipFrus and Criscar99. I appreciate the help.

That seems like a huge chunk of bandwidth for one line to use. Have you logged into your online account and switched your bandwidth to "normal"? This may also help you. |
