How would I setup my Vonage router with my DIR655 router?

Modem -> DIR655 LAN Port -> PC1, 2 and 3 into DIR655 Port 1, 2, 3 -> Vonage Router -> DIR655 Port 4?

Thanks, note that I can't test this setup right now I'm far away from home.

If it is a routable Vonage device I would instead suggest

Modem-->vonage-->router-->computers

The Vonage router which I use for my Voip is trash, I would never put it infront of my DIR655. We're looking at a $180 router vs. a $20 one.

Your picture of your current configuration picture doesn't make much sense to me, but I think you mean you have this.

Modem |-> DIR655 |-> PC1
| |-> PC2
| |-> PC3
| |-> Vonage Router

If this is what you mean, then you are correct, and this is how it is setup.

If you mean something else, I would recommend you set it up like this. This will let the DIR655 take care of QoS for Vonage.

Also in your picture you say you have your Modem plugged in to a LAN port, but it should be the WAN port. I'm guessing this is just a typo, but wanted to mention it in case it was not. You should have 1 WAN and 4 LAN ports on that router.

Hope this helps.

I have the DIR655 with a DLink VTA -- setup as follows:

Modem->DIR655->>||PC1
||PC2
||Network Switch
||DLink VTA

This setup works like charm and I've never had an issue. You may have to play with the QoS a bit but that works well also.

Good luck!

Network Switch = Vonage? Dlink VTA = ?

Thanks.

Since my house was prewired for internet I needed more ports than the DIR655 had, which is 4 so I added a network switch to get more. The DLink VTA is the Vonage phone device. It has two ports for phones and no routing capability. It works very well and is still available at retail outlets.

Do you think I should send them their Router back and purchase the dlink VTA?
