When I signed up with RoadRunner five years ago, I was given a Toshiba DOCSIS cable modem (model DAZ8801). It still works good, but I am wondering if it will allow optimum performance with Vonage. If not, which cable modem should I get?
Thank you. |

it shouldn't affect it at all. it only has to do with your bandwidth. if you're worried about it, try testyourvoip.com. |

You should be fine. However, I too had a five year old modem.
I simply disconnected it and dropped by one of Cablevision's walk in centers and got a free exchange for their latest modem just in case.
Now, with their latest modem, I am able to see signal strength and modem firmware by using my PC browser, something I could not do before.
None of this may actually have made a difference, anyhoo, because my last modem seemed to work fine. If you have the time, and Time Warner will do it, then exchange it. If not, don't worry about it. |
