Is there a Vonage device that does not come w/routing capability? I currently have an excellent home router w/ a 3rd party firmware, and I really dont see the need to use this Vonage router ( RTP300). I have read in other post that this router actually hinders QOS since it has a built in bandwidth algorithm that is less than ideal. Is there anyway I can upgrade to such a device? Also I asked Vonage to downgrade the firmware since I believe this is causing my low QOS numbers, but I guess I can rule that out... I recently ran a test on testmyvoip and I got an eypopping 4.3 and 4.4 score but its very inconsistent and matter of fact I just re ran the test and I just received a 1.8 score! Yikes....I am sure the blame isnt totally with Vonage but I do want to eliminate anything that may be contributing to my dilema. thxs dr Comcast modem ->Linksys WRT54GS->RTP300 |

I just have my Vonage box connected to my Linksys router as a standalone device - since there's nothing connected to the Vonage box but a phone its performance as a router doesn't enter into the equation. |

The PAP2 device does not have routing capabilities and I believe it's still available for purchase at retail stores such as Best Buy and Circuit City. I'm not sure if Vonage still stocks or sells the PAP2.
When you run the Voip test, run it with the connection going directly from your cable modem to your computer and then run it with your other networking equipment connected and compare your results. |
