Hi guys and gals. Just for an update, I tried sending out my first real fax today and it didn't go through when I had the DSL line splitter/filter connected. I received a communication error. I then unplugged the filter/splitter and connected a regular splitter with no filter and that fax went through! The only thing with this splitter is the way it connects to the
Vonage
device. The original splitter/filter had another third wire that made for an easy connection. The normal splitter is 1 hard piece and it barely connects into the back of the
Vonage
device. I'm just glad it worked and will look for a different model of splitter that has an extended wire to make for an easier and sturdier connection.
My only question now is about fax confirmations. When my original fax didnt go through my fax machine spit out a pgae of the error code and some other info. When I connected the splitter and sent the fax the LCD screen said the fax had been sent but no confirmation page was printed. Does anyone know if this is something that has to be setup on the machine itself? I tried looking for something pertaining to fax confirmation in my manual but found nothing.
I'm definitely going to call a friend with a fax and try to send a test page to be sure as the document I just sent is rather important. The next thing on my list is calling my cable company and having them check my line. The speed is pretty consistent at 15Mb/s down and 2Mb/s up with no packet loss. But on that
Voip
test it showed alot of jitter at certain times of the day. Just yesterday a friend of mine got a new cell phone that I set up for him(he had a stroke so its hard for him). Anyway I set it up and tried calling my house and my phone didnt ring! I picked up my house phone and there was a dial tone. When I tried calling the house phone 15 minutes later it was fine. I still dont quite know why that happens but I hate when people keep telling me they cant reach me on my home phone. I just had my house built so I'm hoping its something simple that can be fixed on the cable line coming into my home. I thank you all again for the very helpful tips and suggestions. Heres to the best!

Thanks for the link.
I was just so happy to have it actually go through! I only asked because the fax at work prints out a confirmation page and wasn't sure how that worked. Thanks again for all the help, much appreciated!
