Has anyone upgraded the VT2542 antenna to extend the range?
If so, what did you get and where did you buy it?

Thanks!

What about something like this:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10403540&loc=

I read the reviews, some noticed an improvement and some didn't.
For the net price ($13.99) I'd be willing to try it and report back to the group.

Anyone know if this thing could easily replace the antenna on a VT2542?
Does the existing antenna on a VT2542 just unscrew?
And if so, would the "RP-SMA to TNC AdapterCable: 1.5m RG-178 50 Ohms" (whatever the hell that is) screw right in?

Thanks,

Tom

The link is ok, you have to copy/paste, can't just click on it.
Antenna is a " D-LINK ANT24-0700 7dBi Omni-Directional Indoor Wireless Antenna" at Buy.com

I cannot find any info regarding the antenna on a VT2542, such as how to remove it and the type of connector (SMA, TNC or ?).
Motorola refers me to Vonage and Vonage has no clue.
I don't want to just start pulling/twisting the antenna and break something.
Because the VT2542 is made specifically for Vonage, no one seems to know anything about it's innards

The antena on the VT2542 screws on and off...To take it off, turn it counter-clockwise. I know of no information as to what type of connector it has.

Thanks for the response Darrell but I'm still confused.
The antenna is solid rubber with a boot, the whole thing freely rotates 360 degrees in both directions so there is no way to just unscrew it. If there is a nut on this thing it must be inside the unit.

Think I'm just gonna give up on the whole idea.
Maybe I'll just try extending the antenna with aluminum foil Eek

The antenna will screw off...I just did it. When I received my VT2542 and I had to screw the antenna on.

Yes, the antenna does screw off and yes it is a standard connector.

I connected this one to mine tonight:
