Post subject: Vphone without the equipment
I signed up for
vonage
- I want to use my computer exclusively and do not want to pay an additional 9.99 for the SoftPhone product - i only need one number - I do not want teh USB v-phone device as I will either use my existing router that is being shipped to me or I will see if I can just config without. can someone offer some assistance? Do I have to buy the VPhone USB device to use VPhone? If not, how do I go about this or can you send me the link to an article in the forum. I'm still looking and reading. Thanks.

A little research and I found a solution that I've played with..... This is only IF you want to ONLY use a PC instead of having the PC and an ATA (router). You will be disconnecting yoru router.
1. With an active
Vonage
Line/Account download
Vonage
Talk (https://alpha.
vonage
.com/vtalk).
2. Install it and set it up using your Username and Password from your online account.
3. Once you log in it will automatically re-configure your online account to ring both your
vonage
line (ATA) and your
Vonage
Talk line on your PC.
4. On your online dashboard under Call Forwarding add a secondary number to SimulRing (dop not delete the funny stuff in the one field as that is your
Vonage
Talk account.
5. On your online dashboard DISABLE your voice mail (otherwise your calls will dump directly to your
Vonage
Voice Mail and will never ring your
Vonage
Talk PC).
6. Disconnect your ATA
7. Place a test call
Wallla!

Disabling your
Vonage
voicemail is NOT necessary to get
Vonage
Talk to ring for an incoming call. My voicemail is enabled and
Vonage
Talk rings along with my primary
Vonage
phone line whenever I receive an incoming call. BTW, you can check for voicemail messages by dialing *123 from
Vonage
Talk.

It is necessary IF you do not have an ATA and do not want to use one. But you are correct if you want to use it WITH an ATA.
