Post subject: Automatic switching between Vonage & BT with one phone
I thought I would just post this message to suggest an economic solution to solve the problem of using one phone for two lines. We recently had the same problem and after some research found the perfect solution at a very favourable price.
Whilst wanting to have the advantage of free calls, we still wish to retain the BT PSTN line for incoming calls but did not like the inconvenience of having to use two separate phone and we did not want to replace all our DEC phones with new two line models.
The solution was a two line intelligent switch - model AX520 distributed in the UK by Cooltronics.
The AX520 can be set up so that outgoing calls can be made through the VoIP line and incoming calls are directed through the BT line, therefore allowing you to use one phone for two lines. If required you can also force outgoing calls through the BT line by dialling #0. It will also switch if an incoming call is through the VoIP line as well as the PSTN.
One good thing is that in the event of a power cut, the AX520 automatically switches your phone to the PSTN line, just in case of emergencies and it also supports Caller ID.
The AX520 also switches incoming calls on the VoIP and also has an EXT button which will divert the other line to an answer phone or extension.

Post subject: Cooltronics - AX520 Switch
This product is still being marketed by Cooltroincs, its just that the forum does not appear to allow links to commercial sites. Suggest you Google `cooltronics ax520`

When I'd posted before Cooltronics didn't list the product - any searches on their site resulted in a "discontinued" type message. Happy to see they're listing it again though
