Hey all...

I'm new to the board (first post) and I tried searching for :

"VOIP" "call screen" "software"

but I must've come up with like hundreds of hits. I don't think it recognized my search query, so I do apologize if this subject has already been addressed in another thread (although I would appreciate it if somebody could send me that link).

Anyways, long story short I switched over to Vonage Canada from Primus My TalkBroadband. I've noticed that a few things don't seem to be available with Vonage Canada. The most important however is call screening.

For example, with Primus Canada I was able to view my inbound/outbound calls & add them to my web portal directory so that whenever they called I'd see the name & the number (as opposed to just the number). Also, if there was a certain phone number I didn't want calling me I could block that phone number from calling me or even set up a virtual ring (where the phone would just ring and ring and ring on their side, but my side wouldn't ring at all --- a great feature for those blasted telemarketers).

Is there any third party software geared towards Voip subscribers I could purchase to remedy this? I'm not willing to go back to Primus Canada [lousy customer service!]

That is an option that most of us want to include, block certain numbers. All we have available is anonymous call blocking which isn't a great service.

On your web account you should be seeing the number and then on the right of the number you see ID and that shows the name of the caller.

Welcome to the forum, not many Canadian users on here, so my may want to post in the U.S forum, but I am sure there are no programs to solve your problem.

I must say,

I'm a little disappointed then. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep looking.

I've only been with Vonage for a few months. The service is alright. Nothing to brag about. I'd say it's on par with other providers. The customer service / technical support is good.

But I need more features. As one demented Chris Crocker put it....."MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE!" Lol

Thanks for the link(s). I didn't know about these services (although I don't really need them). It's nice to know that there are some perks that come with Vonage.

From what I can make, Vonage isn't fully loaded in terms of user control. It's main selling feature is stability (based on the reviews I've read on both this site & others as well).

Oh well....time will tell. Wink

I have Grand Central, no invites left. You don't get a Canadian phone number though available for Canadian, just request it and they will send you an email sometime.
