Hi all,
I am a new Vonage customer. So far everything seems to be working rock solid over my cable modem connection. One thing I have noticed though is that all the people I have talked to, have mentioned to me that my voice is about 6dB quieter over my Vonage phone line, then over a regular land line. Is this a common issue? I tried switching various cordless phones, and although I got better results with some phones, the general concensus was still that I was MUCH quieter on a Vonage line, than a land line.
Has anyone run into this, and if so, what kind of advice can you give me. I like the service, but if people are having trouble hearing me, this really changes my view on Voip.
Please advise, and thanx in advance........ |

I signed up for Vonage this week myself. I bought a Linksys PAP2 at bestbuy and am currently using that. Like you, I've run into a number of people I call telling me I sound quiet.
Today I got my Lingo box (im comparing both at same time) I was told it sounded a bit louder.
In the week I've had Vonage so far I have to say I'm thrilled with the voice quality (on my end) other than being quiet for the other end I've had no complaints, but I'd love to see if there is any solution for the volume problem. |

I too have had complaints that I am difficult to hear. I raised the issue with Vonage some time ago and was asked to run Pingplotter, which did not reveal any problems.
On the strength of this thread, I called Vonage again. The CSR said that it is not possible to adjust the output volume of the Motorola adaptors. He put me on hold while he presumably consulted his supervisor to confirm this.
Comments, anyone? |
