Pix 501 w/ linksys wrtp54g; phone not working

Hey there,

new to the forums; hoping you guys can help. My setup is:

Modem --> PIX --> Linksys --> clients

Okay the details:

I have connected the linksys & pix via LAN to LAN.
(my goal was to use as a WAP; all routing via the PIX) -which works! However, now the phone doesn't.

If I connect the Linksys box WAN to the LAN of the PIX, the phone works, but WAP feature does not.

I'm a novice w/the PIX, but have a fairly good understanding of static routes; I'm hoping that's the case.

BTW, will setup 1; I can't get to the config pages of the linksys box.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

Should anyone care; need this info for themselves. It's fixed.

Route is:

Modem--> Pix-->Linksys

I have a connection from PIX lan to Linksys lan, then a connection from Linksys lan to Linksys wan.

I'm still able to reach the config pages, where I've:

Set a static IP outside the range of my PIX dhcp scope
turned Linksys dhcp server OFF
turned Linksys Nat/Firewall OFF

This has effectively turned my Linksys box into a wireless WAP and switch (getting IPs from my PIX), while my phone still operates.

Thanks for the posts. The trick of running a connection from the WRTP54G LAN port to its own WAN port is something that we pass on to folks from time to time. You might be interested in the writings of Nate Hoy, here. In particular, his discussion of Option 3 under putting a router in front of a Vonage router is similar to what you're discussing. Lots of other good information there too.
