Hi I live in Michigan and I have a friend who lives in Preston, England and I really want to talk to her on the phone. I first dial the 011 number and then the country code (44) and then I dial her phone number. What happens is that it will ring once and then it will go on what sounds like multiple rings at a time and their quiet and after about a minute or two, the operator will come up and say "lines are temporary busy". I was even chatting with her online when I tried calling her and she said her phone never rang. How can I call my friend living in the UK? Did I do something wrong when dialing the number? The number I am calling is a mobile too and I am calling from my home phone. Thank you in advance for your help. |

Try 011+44+1772(1772 is the area code for Preston, England) and then her number. |

I just tried that and the operator immediately came on and said "Were sorry the number you are trying to reach is invalid 0101". I am calling her mobile phone. The closest I got was when I tried it without the 1772. |

Is "1772" her city calling code? |

I just dialed (011+44+1772+697711) a Hoilday Inn Express in Preston, England and I connected just fine.
To be certain of the city calling code, if you can't reach her by phone, e-mail her and ask her for the city calling code. |

I see the problem now...you're calling a mobile number. In that case you don't dial 011+044. You would dial 011+44xx which may or may not be included in the free unlimited. See the following link:

This is her number that I mixed around the numbers so that it isn't the actual number- 011 44 7707915992
I would go to dial that for example and it wouldn't work. Then I tried the 011 44 and then 1772 and then the number and it still didn't work. |

The "44" represents a landline connection. When you click on the link, http://vonage.com/intrates.php?keyword=united+kingdom see where it says "United Kingdom (Cellular & Premium), the "XX" would represent the other numbers you would add to the "44". |
