I have Vonage Motorola Adaptor, connected to Linsys WRTG14 Wireless Router which is connected to Comcast Mot SB Cable Modem.
When I place or receive calls, every other moment I loose the vocie on both side and it comes back after anywhere from 2-30 seconds..
My VoIP Test comes out above average...
The problem happens even whenI am not browsing the net ..

Please post all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. Include the detailed results from the VoIP test. |

More info would be nice.
On a guess, the first thing I would do is connect the Vonage router directly to the modem with your linksys router second in the chain. I would also try changing the ethernet cables between the Vonage and modem.

When I was having those type problems, it was my internet service dropping connection occasionally. My speed test were excellent, but there was a network problem that caused intermittent drop out of the internet signal to the modem. You might want to check the log of your cable modem to see if there are errors at the time of the signal loss. |

Hi Guys,
I did not have the time to run tests and post technical details n such..
I moved the Vonage adapter to a different room in the house.
Earlier I had it with the TV, DVD player, power cables and waht not...It may have been teh interference in that area. Now in a diff room, it is working very well with the issue hapening only 1-2 times in th e last month I have put it there. |

Re: dropped calls. I enjoyed dropped calls for the last 12-18 months. Called Vonage and Cox - no solution. Talked to a Cox tech this morning (11/22/07). Asked about my splitter. Old - 6 yrs. Gave me new one - installed it. Speed went from 3.8 MB to 5.8 MB on desktop. Laptop on 50' CAT 5 went from 584 KB to 9.8 MB. Will replace coax from splitter to modem next, then have Cox replace the outside cable . I haven't had a long call yet to see if this solves my phone problem but I'm betting it will. |

Keep in mind that I might be tech challenged here.
What router did you remove? The Cox Internet router? or the Vonage Telephone Router??
My calls are garbbled and they cut out . . . often.
I didn't seem to have this problem with Qwest. . . but this time I went with Cox because we are only in this area 5 months out of the year. . and they wanted a two year contract. Cox didn't . . . but now I am having problems.
Vonage said it's Cox. . . and guess what. .. Cox says it Vonage. . no surprise on thist one.. . any suggestion would help. |

If you want Vonage, you have to have the Vonage router. If you need the other router, it is sometimes better to put the Vonage router in front of the other router.
My setup - Cable Modem->Vonage Router->Wireless Router->PC.
If you would post what is requested in the sticky at the top of the forum, we may be able to tell you if your problem is with Vonage or your Internet Provider. |
