Hello. I am experiencing problems with my Vonage line. I currently use a Linksys RTP300
I am running it behind my Linksys WRT300N Router.
I have been having quality issues so I am trying to switch my router set up and put my Vonage router 1st (internet connected directly to Vonage router)
however I am unable to log on to my set up page.
I have obviously connected the router directly to my computer but it will not logon when I type in http://192.168.15.1
I have tried this with two different computers and both times I get a message from Windows saying that my lan connection is very weak or non existent.
My current set up is that my WRT 300 router is connected to the internet and then it automatically assigns an IP to my vonage router.
I have tried logging on with this IP as well but am unable to connect that way as well.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
I realize that I may have to reset my Vonage router but I don't want to have to do that for fear of my line being down for a long period of time.
Thanks. |

In the current configuration, can the computer plugged into the RTP300 access the internet? Have you checked the cabling? |

Hi Steve. I couldn't get on the internet when plugged through the vonage router.
I actually used several different cables.
It's a very strange issue.

When you first got the RTP300 were you able to log on to it? Did you perhaps disable it as a DHCP server, preventing you from logging on now? If so, a reset may be the most straightforward solution. However, if you're comfortable fiddling with your computer network settings (I'm not!), you could try temporarily setting it up with a static address of 192.168.15.2 and seeing if that allows you to get on to the RTP.
Are you using the correct name and password for the RTP300? |

A Linksys WRT300N, huh? Sounds like a wireless router, and it sounds like the error message you are getting is referring to the wireless signal strength. If the computer(s) is/are still trying to use the wireless and you're connected through ethernet, of course it's not going to work. Make sure that the computers are getting the correct default gateway address, 192.168.15.1 and make sure the wireless is disabled and the Local Area Connection is enabled. If all of that is happening and you still can't log in, the device will have to be replaced. |

Hi. The router is a wireless/wired router. I use it as a wired router in my office which is where the vonage phone is. My desktop does not have a wireless adapter so there is no issues there.
Also, the WRT300 was unplugged and was not connected when I tried to log on to my vonage router.
I plugged directly out of the ethernet port on the back of my computer to the vonage router. I tried it with my desktop and my laptop, both connected directly to the vonage router and got the same message on both computers.
Re: the correct name and password. I am not even getting to the password screen.
As soon as I put the routers address in my browser It seaches and then says unable to find the page or something of that nature.
My network connection icon in my system tray then gives me a message saying I have little or no connection and will not be able to access the internet of network files. That's not the exact wording but it's something like that.
"Did you perhaps disable it as a DHCP server"
I did disable this as I am using my other router for this purpose.
The Vonage router is used only for my phone and my wrt300 assigns it a IP address.
I didn't realize thatdisabling DHCP would prevent me from getting on to the vonage router without resetting it.
I was able to log on to it no problem when I first got it.
I used to use it as a router for my network.
When I moved my office I got the Linksys router and I now use it as my main router and the vonage only for phone.
When I set up the LInksys router I had to disable the DHCP on my vonage router and change a few other settings.
Thanks for you assistance.
Russ

OK, we're getting there. You should be able to log on to the RTP300 if you do a reset on it, which will re-enable DHCP. If you don't want to do that, try the static address trick. If that gets you on, you can re-enable DHCP. |

i was looking and did not really see that anyone ask this so here it goes.
when you computer is connected to the Vonage device do you get a an from the device...which would be any ip in the 192.168.15.2 to .15.150
it could be that you pcs just aren't releasing the IP from your wireless router even after you connect to the vonage device
a reset using the button on the back of the device with a pen for 30 second should do it like steve 48 said, but i would check the ip that you pc has when connected if you have set up any settings on the device previously they will be lost
and of course when you put the device in front of the wireless router and directly connected to the modem...make sure you power cycle the whole network first...starting with all modems and routers off and then turn on the modem and wait 2 min...then turn on the vonage device and wait a min....then turn on the wireless router and you should be all set
run>cmd>ipconfig and see what it says |
