Post subject: still a couple more questions
Thanks so much for your answers! I still have questions. I know that these might be ridiculously obvious, but we're switching from the Merlin (really old) system with a box to VoIP. Would these splitters be necessary for each phone or just the phone connected to the actual adapter? We would probably have about 6 or 7 phones.
Thanks!

Now you're upping the ante considerably. How, exactly, do you propose to hook 6 or 7 phones to one Vonage box? The phones you've specified have aux jacks for lines 3 and 4, but they don't have parallel L1/L2 jacks for "daisy chaining" telephones.
I'd recommend using house/building wiring, assuming it exists and can be disconnected from any outside lines. Then one L1/L2 splitter plugged into a wall jack would allow you to connect box lines from a Vonage adapter or adapters to the house wiring. The phones would all plug into other wall jacks.
