I guess my switch wasn’t that different, as soon as I received the phone adaptor I hooked it up and started using only one phone set which was connected to the RT31P2 and made sure my wife did use the same, until recently the other sets went dead so I figured the switch is done, next day I did disconnect it from outside and connected all the other sets. |

I hope our xfer goes as well as yours! We have Verizon as well. Our LOA was received/sent 12/27/04.
I work for a large insurance company and I know things go wrong. One thing everyone has to realize is that you are dealing with humans. I'm sure no one on this forum (or the world for that matter!) would bet their lifes that they never made a mistake in their lives. Try as I might I occasionally forget something or do something wrong! |

Seems that Vonage's 3rd party port administrator is kinda hit-or-miss. Here's my sob story:
December 2, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization December 10, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received December 10, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
12/30: Called Vonage, told that 20 days is really 20 business days.
1/10: Called Vonage, told that SBC (the owner of my other number) hadn't responded.
1/12: same.
1/15: same. Filed CPUC complaint against SBC for not responding to port request.
1/25: Recieved call from SBC rep. Rep claims SBC never recieved port request.
1/30: SBC Rep still doing research; Vonage not giving information because she isn't the account owner.
2/3: Call Vonage with SBC rep on the line. FINALLY learn that Vonage uses XO Communications as their 3rd party port vendor. Vonage/XO seems to have lost the port paperwork and will resubmit. I should call the "Number Transfer" group tomorrow when they are open.
2/4: Number Transfer group confirms that port request "resubmitted" 1/25, with a PON of 95827 (which, I just noticed, happens to be my zip code (hrm....)). SBC rep now needs the "company code" for XO to figure out if they have the PON in house. I'll have to wait until vonage's Number Transfer Group opens again Monday before I can get any further. UPDATE: The SBC rep tells me that the PON actually references an order by a completely different organization, unrelated to Vonage. Weird.
It really seems as if Vonage's number port is hit-or-miss. Unfortunately for me, I still pay SBC to maintain my existing phone number until the port can happen -- I don't want to do that for too many months. |
