I just purchased JoiPhone (similar to Vonage) and I am using a Motorola SB5120 modem (no built in router) with a Linksys ATA. When I hook everything up, I get the following message:

This connection has limited or no connectivitiy. You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. For more information, click this message.

It won't assign an IP address!!! I accessed TCP/IP settings, DHCP is enabled. Automatic IP is assigned, etc etc etc etc etc. I don't know what else to do. Why isn't it assigning an IP address? I've rebooted everything 5000 times, everything is plugged in correctly. Ethernet to comp, internet to ATA.

Well with Vonage most of the adapters are routers.

You get that error message when you are connecting wirelessly, could mean you are out of range of the router. why not try to connect directly?

The company you signed up with, don't they have a support site like this.

thanks. i was unable to find a support forum for JoiPhone users.

I am not using wireless.... everything is plugged in directly.

I wish i knew what the problem was, it just won't assign an IP address. believe me, i have done anything and everything. i can't believe that i still replies from people saying, reboot system, reboot modem, let sit 10 minutes, etc. Are you kidding me?!?!?! i am almost in tears here... i've been on this computer since friday afternoon, spending countless hours on google trying to solve this issue.

oh well, thanks for your help. i am going to send this back tomororw.

You have several devices that could potentially provide IP addressing, but most likely the only one that will is the Lynksys. It should only provide IP addresses for your internal network, and externally, unless you have a fixed IP from your ISP, you should just get a server assigned IP from your ISP.
I think your connections need to be first, your modem, then the router, then the phone plugged into the router. Also, your computers need to be plugged into the router also.
All local devices (computers, etc) should get their IPs from the Lynksys. You may need to dig out the CD that came with the Lynksys and re-run the setup.
