Hello, you mentioned you were charged for calling an airline in the UK?
If the number starts with 0870 or 0845 these are chargeable numbers in UK.
0870-Is a 'National Type' number and is approx 5-10pence/ minute
0845-Is a 'Local Type' number and is approx 3-7pence/ minute.
A lot of UK companies are starting to use them as they make money from them, especially 0870, where they and the phone company share revenue on them.
There is a website that I often use to find a local number alternative.
Its www.saynoto0870.com , often you can type the number or name of the company in and it will find a local 01/02 number, that I presume would be included in your Vonage call plan. or at least the vonage UK call plan. |

Vonage actually has their own tool on their website that will tell you the rate of the call for a certain number.
Just go to http://www.vonage.com/intplans_details.php and towards the bottom of the page, click "Which International Calling Plan is Right for You? Find out now". The tool will pop up and all you have to do is enter the number!
I've found it rather useful. |
