I signed up in July 06 and I'm pretty sure it was you have to keep Vonage for 1 year. Now its changed to 2 years. I might go back to bell if the can give me a deal on thier prices. If not I'll stick with Vonage.

Was it not a year, or am I just remembering wrong?

If it was can I still cancel and not get charged the fee, since I signed up then?

I am not sure when Vonage changed it from 1 year to the 2 year contract. All that means is you have to pay $39.99 to cancel your contract.

I am positive that Bell can't compeat with the price you are getting. Their line alone cost around $22.00, long distance package another $20 and you still have no extra features.

I like Vonage for all the travel aspects it offers, take your adapter with you, have a soft phone account, use the V-Phone or the free Vonage Talk application.

Bell had everyone by the balls for so many years you had to shell out the money. Only other option you have is go with the cable company's phone service and like Bell you really can't do much with it and it isn't cheaper than Vonage.

Hmm.. I'll have to see if I can find any paperwork stating that its only a year. Doesnt matter too much. I just got mail yesturday from bell asking me to come back for like the 10th time. I know they can't come close to the features and price of vonage... but if i can get a deal out of them that would be ok. I'd swich if I could get basic line, with caller id and call waiting.. possibly voicemail but I think thats pushing it for them for the rate of basic Vonage. I don't need longdistance. I can get that free other ways.

I'm happy with Vonage but it would be nice to have a real line again and not have to worry about it going down or possible quality issues.

EDIT:

I found the agreement that says there is a fee if cancelled before 1 yr. Oh, and of course I can't call the BELL 1866 number through my Vonage. lol
