I am having a problem with my VT1000, I have it hooked up in the following way:
Internet - Cable Modem - VT1000 (Providing DHCP) - Netgear Websafe Router (No connection to the WAN Port-So basically a hub) - additional Hub - PCs/Printer.
When a person calls, the phone will ring, once we pick up the connection goes dead. It requires that we disconnect the power from the VT1000 and plug it back in. The Internet comes back up and the phone starts working again. You can place lots of outgoing calls, but once someone calls back in it may or may not work. The called ID will show you who is calling, but the connection is lost once the phone is picked up, simply a dead signal - no dialtone. You can sometimes take the call but sometimes it will do the above all over again. The problem seems to be very intermittent.
I have two lines, one a main line and the other a fax line. The fax line seems to work better than the main line, it does not appear to happen as much on the fax line, however it has happend before.
Any thoughts, remedies, or ideas? Thanks. |

I have 3 VT1005V phone adapters connected to a dlink router connected to a Cayman netopia 3546 DSL router. We had no problems with our service until yesterday then we get calls pick up the line and it's dead no sound...sometimes a click. If the person calls back they may get through to us. It it not consistent to anyone line. We have had no changes in 9 months (that I know of) They said i need to open ports for the adapters. I did this on both routers. They they said it was bandwidth. i checked and SBC had us limited and they fixed it to where we were getting 384 up and 6 meg down...it actually showed a bit different but it seemed much much faster. We are still getting dropped lines. Can anyone help? email me at frank_tudor@yahoo.com thanks, Frank |
