Well I have been with Vonage 1 year now, I wonder what kind of gift they will give me?

Since being with Vonage for one year I have had little problems with the service. A lot of new things became available, Vonage Talk is probably the best thing so far, just hope they get it out of Alpha and running mainstream soon.

I just finished my one yr anniversary. I only had one issue that was a mystery and still unknown.....something the cable company was doing. If it turned out to be a recurring issue I wouild have canceled. It required me to reboot the service several times over two wks. I complained and of course got two companies pointing at one another. Then it went away.....and never came back. I've been very pleased otherwise.

I will hit the one year mark in November. Most of the trouble I have with Voip comes from Comcast and their fragile infrastructure. I have a stack of completed service requests a foot thick and I'm considering going to the city to see if they can put some pressure on them to fix their cable problems, permanently or pull Comcast's franchise in favor of Time Warner.

Vonage, however, works perfectly as long as the cable broadband is up and running.

I've had Vonage going on 4 years. I've had 4 ISPs in 3 states. (TW in TX; Cox, Suddenlink in OK; Comcast in FL). I've also traveled with Vonage.

Bottom Line: Good Internet = good voice quality.

Good Internet = low latency, low jitter, minimal pauses.

Right now, even though Comcast has the best download speeds I've had (usually >/= 6 MBPS), it has the highest jitter and max pause (unpredictably up to 1000 ms) and thus the worst voice quality of the 4 ISPs I've had.

Another thing - try to get a "home run" from your cable box to the phone adapter with only one splitter in between. Your TVs will tolerate the splitters much better that the Internet connection.

My one year anniversary will not be until May. The comment :Vonage Talk is probably the best thing so far" I agree with.

My wife periodically complains about echos, but is probably pause from my ISP, TW.

So would TW be any better?

Who knows, but I like the savings and the control/flexibility over my phone service

I didn't realize it until I read this post but October marks MY one year anniversary with Vonage too! I couldn't be happier with it. 99.99% of the problems I've had were NOT the fault of Vonage, and that's darn good. I'm hoping that Vonage comes out on top with it's various legal troubles, and I hope it continues to increase it's feature roll-outs.

It's within a few days of my 3rd anniversary. Service overall has been good, and most of my complaints stem from their sketchy support and willingness to spam my refer-a-friend list without my consent (but that's a fight for another thread).

Uptime-wise, 2005 was a mess, 2006 pretty good, then back to sketchy a few times during the first half of 2007. The past several months have been good. I'm still having intermittent problems with simul-ring, though, and nobody seems to care. (2 Vonage lines simul-ringing, yet the 2nd line doesn't start ringing until about the 4th ring, which is about when voicemail picks up.)

Call quality is usually good, and their feature set is much better implemented than AT&T CV.... although CV is far more reliable for faxing and has a much better support call center (domestic, English speaking).

IMO, for around $30/mo., an overall good service for the price. If they would stop doing lowest-bidder, lowest-quality, cannot-think-beyond-my-useless-canned-script, "just get the customer to shut up and go away" tech support.... and stop with the high-pressure "you can check out anytime you want but you can never leave" sales mentality..... they'd be a top pick, especially with their legal troubles coming to an end.
