I have a PC with WinFax pro driving a plain old Modem/fax card into a regular Vonage line.
This is a setup that has always worked for me on a POTS line, but since we moved to Vonage just a month ago, it has never worked reliably.
For example, it sends one page and then every other time it connects the line is hung up as soon as it appears to be through with 'training'.
We did everything we could from reading posts here... changed bandwidth saver to be on the highest setting (max bandwidth used), disabled error correction, lower speeds (down to 9600 and then 4800, even down to 2400) none of this fixed the problem.
We also have a Sharp UX-340L (boring old FAX machine) which we dusted off and plugged into the same phone socket as the PC modem was in.
Guess what?
The Sharp fax machine works perfectly. All default settings!!!
Don't ask me WHY it works and the PC does not......
BUT... I'd like to know how many other members have got a PC modem/fax card working and how many have not.
