UTStar com currently not provided thru retail , available only thru Vonage direct , however have noticed recently no stocks with them as well. maybe you can login to vonage.com and go to products section to see what they offer currently. |

Beware of buying one from a private party, even if their Vonage account is paid up and they are a subscriber in good standing.
Such a purchase from an individual who is not an authorized Vonage reseller violates their terms of service and you may not be able to get Vonage to provision the MAC address to your account. |

Does anyone know why the starcom phones are no longer being sold from the Vonage site? |

I expect that they are not being sold because Vonage is sold out of phones. Vonage did not move on to the F1000G or F3000 and UTStarcom does not make the F1000 any more. |

I had a look at Hello Direct. I would guess that the phone will be a standard software, unlocked (not Vonage branded) version. CHeck for the Vonage logo on the back and for a firmware version ending in .vo. If there is no brand, and a .st firmware version, it is unlocked. |

Guys - I just got off the phone with Vonage. Vonage no longer sells the phone.
I have had it for about 1 year. It's been working ok but not perfect. The voice degrades once in a while, and I have to reboot it to get the quality back on. Just recently the screen is fading in and out so I called Vonage support where they no longer support the phone and cannot replace it. So I am stuck going back to a router. I love the flexibility but I am disappointed. I should be able to use an WiFi phone and use Vonage. They can't even transfer my phone number to a softphone. I am not sure what I am going to do.

Depending on how many outgoing calls you make - and from where - you can transfer your main number to a router on a $15/month account then add a soft phone for $10/month and use an "unlocked" WiFi phone for that. The other choice is to try one (Vonage branded F1000) from eBay (with no guarantee at all that Vonage would let you use it). |
