Post subject: Netgear DG834G does not see D-Link VTA
First post here and I really hope somebody can help. I connect to
Vonage
in my flat through a Belkin router to NTL broadband and it works perfectly.
I am trying to get it to work in my mum's house where I have an ADSL connection through Pipex. Here I use a Netgear DG834G with the latest firmware. Connecting the D-Link VTA adapter to it results in the power light and the internet light coming on solid and the ethernet port on the Netgear showing a connection. But the phone light on the adapter does not come on and trying to use the phone gives the "cannot connect to
Vonage
" message. Also the adapter does not show up as an "attached device" on the Netgear's configuration page so I can't see what IP address the router is giving it. I've tried disabling DHCP and connecting to the adapter using the default address with no luck. Numerous reboots haven't improved the situation either. Thinking the adapter or phone had gone faulty I took the whole lot back to my flat where it again worked perfectly. I can't for the life of me work out why the Netgear can't "see" the adapter or why the phone connection light does not come on. Has anybody any ideas?

Now I can't see the adapter through the Belkin router either although it's still working. Clicking on the DHCP client list shows nothing connected. The computer has a static ip so that's why it doesn't show up but the adapter is set to take it's ip address from the router. I'm beginning to wonder if the adapter is faulty in some way.
