1. Location: travels to NY and Philippines, for this problem: Philippines

2. ISP: Cable21, cable

3. Download speed: 150kb/s, Upload: 60kb/s

4. Modem Motorola VT2142-VD

Packets out of order: 0.0 %
Number of supported Voip lines: 1
Estimated MOS score: 2.8

6. Setup of Network: ISP Modem -> Vonage Motorola VT2142-VD -> Linksys wireless WRT54G ver 7 -> 3 PCs

7. Issue: I have my Linksys router in series after the Motorola VT2142-VD because I usually take my Linksys router with me when i travel; in case i stay in a hotel with no Wi-Fi. But i need to Forward a Port for my uTorrent. I'm not sure if forwarding ports will be a success if i have them in a series with the Vonage device first. I just want to ask around before I try messing with them. Thank you in advance for the help.

8. 2nd Issue: Same Network Setup. I already set my Vonage setting to low voice quality (which my ISP speeds can handle) but when a PC is using up the bandwidth (ie. downloading files) the call becomes choppy. Can I somehow set the Vonage device to forcibly take all the bandwidth it needs when there is a call even if the PC is trying to take the bandwidth? I think this is very possible since i have my router and my PCs after the Vonage device. I just don't know which setting inside the Vonage device to change. Thank you again.

In regards to the 2nd issue, there is no setting within the VT2142 that you can change to force the device to use all available bandwidth. You barely have enough upload speed to make a Voip call let alone to be trying to download or upload a file at the same time while on a call. I would suggest while on a call, to suspend all other internet activities if you don't want choppy audio.

Is that the best internet speeds you can get there and are you actually getting speeds you're paying for?...Your download and upload speeds are extremely low for cable internet access. There may be a setting within the Linksys router to give the Vonage device priority but from the looks of your setup you have the Vonage device before the Linksys router so I'm not sure if even that would work.

http://portforward .com is a good reference for port forwarding.

Thanks for the reply. The speeds that I have here are lame, I know but increasing the speeds would cost a lot more. These are the speeds that are "budget" value. Anyway, I hope for future devices they have an option for my 2nd issue.

for my 1st issue, i guess, i will have to try messing up with the devices according to www.portforward.com's instructions.
