Connection using Motorola VT2142 &Sify Broadband

Hello All,
I recently purchased the Vonage Motorola Vt2142 phone adapter.
Since I am travelling a lot to India for work I had taken Vonage for that purpose.

Right now I am in India and tried installing the Vonage device with my pc ==> the phone or internet both don't work.

I have a SIFY broadband connection where there is no router or modem and the direct internet cable gets plugged in the computer.

Actions I did till now

1. The internet wire from SIFY, connected that to the internet Port of the phone adapter.

2. Connected another wire from the ethernet port to the computer.

3. Connected Line1 to the external phone.

4. Powered up the phone adapter.

5. Power light is blinking and other lights blink for few seconds and stop. Power light is just blinking and is not solid.

6.If I pick up the receiver of the phone the phone1 light starts blinking and it says connect to the correct port.

7. If I check internet it doesn't work.

Can someone please help as to how I can successfully do the installation.

Do I need to do something with the gateway settings or anything?

If someone has already done a sify connection, best practise shared will be highly appreciated.

Take a look at the network setup on your computer. Assuming that the computer works when you plug it directly into the service, the same network setup should work when applied to the WAN side of the Vonage box.

Are you able to access the admin page of the Vonage box?

Keep in mind that one great source of help with this problem should be the service provider. The ISP may not be responsive to inquiries for help with Vonage, but he should be willing to help with installing a router, and that's all the VT2142 really is from his viewpoint. Get it working as a router and the phone service should work as well.

Also try doing a search on this forum. There have been a ton of posts about getting things to work in India.
