Vonage with school's password/login requried internet?

Sorry if this isn't that clear, but i'm a newbie and don't quite know the network terminology?

My school has recently started using a password/login process to gain access to the internet.

If i plug my comp. directly into the ethernet port I get the login screen, but not through my WRTP54G router.... so the phone doesn't work either for some reason.

Are there any settings I can change, and can someone please walk me through it?

You would probably find a lot better help by talking with your school's networking dept. I don't think anyone here can guess what your school is using to allow you access to the net. Most routers have a place for a password and username if you are using ppoe to access the net. It's most commonly used for DSL connections though.

This sounds like the way we've been used to for logging on a Vonage device at a hotel or internet cafe, but damned if I can remember how to do it. I would do a search here and see what you can find.

try changing your vonage device to pppoe and put your username and password from the school in the user/pass setting

is there some terminology for this type of setup?

I want to run a search, but I don't know what to search for?

If the login is HTML based then your most likely up a creek with out a paddle.
