Whilst I am experiencing various problems with my service currently, which looks as though it could be down to my ISP (see other post - Service issues Spain), Can anyone tell me whether they successfully use cordless phones with Vonage?

I have two Vonage DLink adapters, plugged into a Belkin Wireless G modem/router. And a cordless phone plugged into each device.

Is there any reason why this should not work effectively. Too many radio waves in one room etc (forgive my lack of knowledge!).

Any help would be appreciated

If you are in Spain and have DECT cordless phones between 1880MHz and 1900MHz, they should be fine. If you brought along a 2.4GHz cordless phone from the USA (or found one somewehre there), then it will interfere with the WiFi. More radio waves are normally not a problem, so long as they are on different frequencies. With multiple devices transmitting on the same channels in the same place - you'll have troubles.

I have used 5.8 GHz and 900 MHz cordless phones with Vonage.

Hi, thanks very much for this information.
They are indeed iDect phones purchased in Spain and they are OK when calling the UK (but not Spain for some reason). But one of the challenges I have had with trying to get Vonage to look into the problems I have been having is they kept blaming the cordless phones... however, not once did they ask about the frequency.
One of the other things that they said, is that the Vonage devices must be 4 ft away from any other device. When you have two devices, two phones and a wireless router this can be quite challenging with the cables provided!.
Do you recommend this also?.. do all the devices really need to be 4ft away from each other?

I am not familiar with "iDECT". If that is DECT moved to 2.4GHz (once proposed in the USA), then it could be a problem. If it is "normal" DECT, then it would be OK.

As far as separation - in some cases, devices put out some ineference an could mess each other up. Moving them apart is a good ida. That said, I have my WiFi router sitting on top of my DSL modem and with inches of an ATA without problems.

Looking at your case - if you are OK on calls to the UK but not to Spain, then that would likely point to some trouble with the Vonage partner gateway in Spain. The path from you to Vonage (what you would measure with Test Your Voip or anything else) would be the same no matter where you want to call. The path "back" would be different.

One test would be to have someone else call the Spain numbers from someplace else. I would expect that they would have the same trouble -- it is also likely not "all" of Spain, just a small area that uses one gateway for outbound calls.

I have seen tht thread but chose not to get involved as there is a lot of traffic there already.

My only comment on it is that it seems that there is a difference between what the adapter is doing and what the test result shows - if you show 100% packet loss from the server to you, and that is consistent, then you would NEVER hear anything coming in. Clearly, this is not the case - so there is some trouble with the test set up.

In any case, if the UK works and Spain does not, the link between you and Vonage is fine - you have already tested it in service.
