How do we obtain the new F/W, Vonage sends it through the connection, we download and apply or just sit and wait ?

I haven't figured out how to update the firmware, I don't think there's a way to do it from the router. You'll have to call Vonage and ask them to push the latest firmware.

So far with this router it's been keeping it's settings, but I haven't used it yet really. And it's not been provisioned.

Before I got this router I started using Tomato Firmware for my old router. And I don't think i'm going to use the Motorola instead. Tomato is very good.

Darrell_G, what version of the firmware is working for you?

I phoned Vonage and they told me they would push a new version of the firware and that should work.

Software Version: 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1...but the problem still persists. The last time I rebooted my device, I lost all settings. I seriously doubt that Vonage has a new firmware version. If they did, it should have been automatically pushed to anyone who uses the VT2542.

Has anyone asked for their money back? I bought the VT2542 as an "upgrade" to a Linksys PAP (which works fine). The VT2542 is basically defective. I have a DSL connection with a username and password, so anytime there's a power cut, I won't have a phone until I log in and fill in the DSL parameters. I think that's just dangerous.

I know that this is a Motorola problem, rather than a Vonage problem, but if Vonage are going to sell these units, then they have to be prepared to accept returns of defective products. I really just want my money back at this point. I wonder how many hours I'll have to spend on the phone for $60 Sad

We just purchased this device on Jan 9th for a business, everything worked fine for a month and now it has lost its setting 2 times in 1 day. We have our device plugged into a UPS and have not lost power but it still resets itself. I certainly wish Vonage had pulled this device before we purchased it. Which I now see that they no longer offer it on their product page.

I returned the device for a refund and I'm back to using the rock solid Linksys PAP2. It's a shame I have to have a separate wireless route, but stability is obviously the most important thing.

I agree. I am surprised this is still an issue. It seems like a really good router. Unfortunately, I have a few static adressess and port forwarding that I need and redoing settings every time the router is unplugged is unacceptable. Not sure whey this isn't a 1 week fix.

Hi,

For ages I've been repeating the tedious task of forwarding ports on the VT2542 every time the power goes out. Now there is a simple solution. There is a FREE program you can download called "Simple Port Forwarding". I have asked the creator to include the VT2524 and after hours of tweaking it finally works. And very well too!

Now every time the power goes off, all you need to do is click 1 button and it automatically forwards all your ports. Smile

I don't know if anybody else changed their device, but I decided not to change it again 'cause the features of this router are very good.
So today in my email I received a request to be part of Vonage Continuous Improvement Program through https://www.surveymonkey.com/ . It is voluntary, but what really surprised me was that they also said they would be upgrading the firmware for the Motorola VT2542 in 2 weeks. I don't know if I want to cry or be furious for taking approximately 4 or 5 years to resolve this issue ( the device would keep reset to default settings after a blackout o disconnecting the power supply from the device) which should have been solved much more promptly. Anyway I'm glad this is happening, but also would like to know if anyone else is still using this same device, also did you get this message from Vonage.
Vonage admins, is there any away to confirm, from your side, this message is legit?! please!!
