I was excited for a minute, but alas, my username and password is router, router. A reboot still looses my settings.
Did you get a firmware upgrade? Mine stills shows 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1. |

Gateway 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1 Wireless Firmware 3.0.0.12 Wireless APDK 6.0.2.64 Boot Loader 1.3.8.1602 |
My is the same. Software Versions Gateway 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1 Wireless Firmware 3.0.0.12 Wireless APDK 6.0.2.64 Boot Loader 1.3.8.1602
The difference was that I click on tools and restart. I wonder if that makes a difference. Will try power recycle tommorow. |

I also have left my username/password router/router, but I still loose settings on power loss. At this point, my only real concern is enabling wifi security every time. I live in an area with a lot of wireless and someone could easily access my network when the router resets and disables all wifi security. |

That should NOT make a difference. |

I too have a concern for wifi secuity. I do however use a uninteruptable power supply (UPS). It doesn't help thought when I inadvertently unplug the router.
I don't know if it is wise but I don't shut down during storms. |

I got the Motorola VT2542 to replace a horrible linksys WR device. I found out that the settings on the motorola are reset to factory default settings when it losses power. I haven't tried restarting it, but i guess it will reset to factory settings too. This is realy bad 'cause any "savvy" PC user roaming around with his wireless connection will see an open LAN (unless the there's a firewall, but most people do not have one) and god forbidding it's not a "very savy" PC user. I have to check periodically my settings to see if something was reset by a loss of power. Fortunatley, i do not have that many power outages, (2 or at most a year) and i also have everything shut until there is a new firmware. Otherwise i'll have to say goodbye to Vonage. This is my device info: Model Number VT2542 HW Revision 1 Gateway 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1 Wireless Firmware 3.0.0.12 Wireless APDK 6.0.2.64 Boot Loader 1.3.8.1602 P.S. Will you guys please post yours too, just to compare and just write if you have the same problems? |

Well, after having my VT2542 for over a month, I had to reboot the router, etc. and my router setting reverted back to the factory default. I, originally, did not experience this problem. Now, even a reboot of a minute erases my settings. I have joined the others who have this issue |

You can get this issue resolved if you call and complain (be nice and rational), I had to go out and buy a new Voip router, fax the receipt to them and they credited my account for $.
I feel for them since they are at the mercy of Motorola for the fix.
Good customer service (for me) on this one. |

How does buying a new router fix the problem? Or did you mean you bought a different model? |

I just bought one of these of e-bay (didn't get it yet).
Is this still an issue? Hate to have my router reset on an power outage.
Thanks,
Mickel |
