Just the security options and the default user name and password (router, router) were changed and of course the name of the SSID which I read would have defaulted as well after a reboot. All remained intact. But again, there was not much of a change so I was ready to retype any information but the good thing was I did not have to. |

But then it could be that my setup is pretty basic, Cable modem --> VT2542. But I purchased the router knowing this issue so I was prepared to fix the settings again when viola! nothing to fix, all my settings remained. |
mine is 11.4.1-r061026-1.3.0 -r5
edit: "In-House Support" at Vonage just updated it
it's now

Just last night, I had a very temporary (no more than two minutes)power outage and sure enough all my settings, including security were gone "again." Maybe the newer versions of the VT2542 have been corrected...I've had my Motorola VT2542 since about mid-to-late July. |

the question is, if I have the time and paitence to get Vonage to swap the device again. (could take 2-3 hours)
does anyone know how you can get in house support? |

I was just making an assumption about the VT2542 that "nyrican" has may be from a newer lot that is void of the defect. Then again it may not be...Time will tell.
When I first received my Motorola VT2542, I didn't have this issue. I know because I had rebooted it several times before and all my settings were intact. It wasn't until I was about a month into having the device when I noticed the settings were reverting back to default after a reboot or loss of power. Whenever I have a loss of power now, I just instinctively log-in to the device and check to see if the settings have defaulted. If the settings have defaulted, I can reconfigure it in less than 5 minutes now...More of annoyance now than anything. |

I just spoke to in-house support, they know of the issue, and he sent me a updated firmware to my router (which should fix it, I'm not at home now, so I cannot test it yet) he said they are working on a updated firmware
but for now the problem is that if you change the user login settings "router" "router" it will do that.... but if you leave that alone... all other settings will stay. |

Thanks for the info...when you get the chance could you relay to the forum the firmware version that he pushed to your device? |

I tested mine last night and lost all wi-fi settings. I had not changed the login name or password.
My software version is the same as nyrican's. |

Call Vonage @ 1-866-243-4357. Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST Speak with someone at account management. options will be 1-5-5-2
and ask for "In-House Support"
(it's the highest support Vonage has, and it's not India...) |

I also purchased my VT2542 around mid July and have the same problems as everyone else (router looses configuration after reboot). My firmware is 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1 and it has not changed for at least a month. |
